Plain Method

Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 7 October 2026

Plain Method has no advertising, no sponsors and no paid subscriptions. It is funded entirely by affiliate commission, and this page explains exactly how that works, where it appears in the course, and what it does and does not influence.

The arrangement in one paragraph

One product is named in this course: War Thunder. The links to it in the five steps are paid affiliate links. If you follow one and then register an account, the affiliate network that operates the link records that the referral came from this site and pays LUKREX s.r.o. a commission. The amount is paid by the network, not by you, and your own cost is exactly the same whether you arrive through our link, through a search engine or by typing the address yourself.

Where the links appear

There are three of them, and nowhere else on the site.

Each of the three carries a line of its own immediately beside it saying that it is a paid link. The box under the heading on the homepage says the same thing before the list of steps, so that nobody can reach a step without having been told. Every affiliate link also opens in a new tab and is marked in the page's code as sponsored, so that search engines and anyone inspecting the page can see what it is.

The links point directly at the destination, with nothing in between. There is no redirect of our own, no script that swaps the address when you click, and no disguised destination: the address your browser shows when you hover over the link is the address it goes to.

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide what the five steps say. Nothing in any step recommends a purchase, rates a product or compares one title against another, and no checklist line depends on which title you choose. If the commercial arrangement ended today, the instructions in Steps 1 to 5 would be unchanged, and the only edit needed would be removing three links and three disclosure lines.

It does not decide which facts appear. Everything the course says about the named product comes from the vendor's own description and nothing else. Where the vendor does not state something — a price, a classification, what can be bought inside the game — the course says so and sends you to look it up, rather than filling the gap with something favourable.

It does not buy a position. Nobody pays to be mentioned, and we do not accept guest articles, sponsored posts or paid link insertions. The Contact page says the same thing to anyone who offers.

What does decide the content

The structure is decided by the checklists. Each step was written backwards from the list of things a reader should be able to do by the end of it, and anything that did not help a reader tick a line was cut. That is why there is no history of the genre, no reviews and no opinions about which games are worth playing.

The claims are decided by what can be sourced. Anything about classification, consumer rights, online safety, privacy or scams is attributed to the Australian body responsible for it and linked, rather than summarised from memory. Anything about a product comes from that product's vendor. Anything else is written as general guidance about the category, true of any title built this way.

The tests a sentence has to pass are deliberately dull: can a reader check it, does it help them complete a checklist line, and would it still be worth printing if the affiliate links were deleted. The About page sets out the editorial method in full, including the parts of it we think a reader is entitled to be sceptical about.

You can finish the course without following any link

This is worth stating plainly because it is the practical test of the whole arrangement. Every checklist in the course can be completed with the computer you already own, a browser and something to write on. The classification lookup happens on a government register. The hardware checks use tools built into your operating system. The household decisions about money and time involve nobody but your household.

If you choose a different game at Step 1, the remaining four steps work exactly as written. We earn nothing in that case, and the course is still the course.

Trade marks

All brand names on Plain Method, War Thunder among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Plain Method, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.

To be explicit about what that means: this is not an official site, an authorised source, a partner, a reseller or a representative of any game publisher. We describe a product; we do not speak for it.

If anything here is unclear, or if you think a link somewhere in the course is not disclosed as plainly as this page promises, write to info@plainmethod.online and tell us which page.
